Growing Community: August 2025 Volunteer Days

There's a special kind of energy that hums through the farms on Volunteer Days. It's the sound of a community in action, where we come together with our fellow community members, and a shared purpose takes root.

This isn't just about farming; it's about fostering connections. It's about seeing the person next to you as a partner in a common goal. The work was hard, but it was lightened by a genuine sense of mutual support. By the end of the day, the land was not the only thing that had been nurtured — bonds of community had been strengthened.

Our Volunteer Days are powerful reminders of what can be accomplished when we work together. There was a lot of weeding, pruning, trimming, and more to be done, but we are so proud of what we were able to do for both the Vale and the Fehr Ave farms. The land at Schenectady Urban Farms is a testament to the dedication of its volunteers, a living example of how a community can come together for a common purpose, proving that taking care of the land is also about taking care of one another.
