Our mission is simple: we want to see those in our community FED.

This simple acronym sums up the heart of Schenectady Urban Farms by highlighting our three focal areas: food, education, and developing community.

F - Schenectady Urban Farms, Inc. exists to farm nutrient-dense, fresh foods that feed our members and neighbors.

E - Schenectady Urban Farms, Inc. exists to educate others in sustainable and replicable urban farming practices.

D - Schenectady Urban Farms, Inc. exists to develop connections that strengthen our community network and promote food security in Schenectady.

Food

Our farms grow fresh, nutrient-rich fruits, vegetables, herbs, and honey, nourishing our community and reducing food insecurity one harvest at a time. We also contribute portions of whatever is grown to food pantries and free food fridges in the community.

Education

Our urban farms serve as living classrooms, offering hands-on, experiential learning for school students, college learners, and adults through immersive field trips, workshops, activism events, and apothecary classes that teach sustainable and replicable urban farming practices.

Developing Community

Our farms create opportunities to connect with fellow members and community neighbors while caring for the land and each other. This promotes food security and sovereignty in Schenectady and is strengthened through our many local, community partnerships.
