Field Trip to Fehr Farm!
We here at Schenectady Urban Farms proudly partner with various community partners as part of our mission to empower and educate others on urban farming initiatives and ecological caretaking. One of our partners, the Schenectady City School District’s Farm to School Program, recently had a group of approximately 80 second graders come over to the Fehr Ave Farm so students could spend some time getting their hands in the dirt! They learned about our vegetable garden, apiary program, got to see the chickens, and even witnessed the nutrient-rich soil that the compost from Zoller Elementary School’s food scraps have turned into. It was a wonderful day, and we are so grateful for this group of farmers-in-training!
