Community Partner Spotlight: Union College

Here at Schenectady Urban Farms, we are deeply grateful for the various community partners we have who are dedicated to seeing the farms’ mission flourish. Today we want to highlight one of them: Union College! Our collaboration goes back several years and is a testament to the power of community engagement and shared dedication to local well-being.

One of the cornerstones of this partnership is Union College's wonderful tradition of the John Calvin Toll Day of Community Engagement. Every year, we eagerly anticipate this special day when Union College students, faculty, staff, and alumni dedicate their time and energy to various community projects. And we're thrilled that Schenectady Urban Farms is consistently one of their chosen sites for making a tangible difference.

During their annual Day of Engagement, Union College volunteers become an indispensable part of our team. From big jobs to small, the groups lend a helping hand wherever it is needed. Their hard work and enthusiasm are truly invaluable, and their contributions directly help us cultivate healthy food for the Schenectady community, expand our educational programs, and beautify our urban spaces.

This partnership is more than just about getting tasks done; it's about building connections, fostering a sense of shared responsibility, and nurturing the bond between the college and the wider Schenectady community. We are deeply grateful for Union College's ongoing commitment and look forward to many more years of growing together!
